"Not Suitable for All Advertisers" - Should We Just Quit YouTube?
Recently, Gary and I made the decision we would try a little harder on our YouTube channel. There are a number of YouTubers that seem to be making it work, so we thought maybe we should put a little more work into our channel and see what happens. We thought maybe we could do YouTube full time, but with YouTube's recent demonetization cracking down on all channels, it may just be something we have to do whenever we have free time. Unfortunately, that would mean we would likely only be able to post once every now and then, which could mean months in between videos.
I had already been hearing about the YouTube algorithm changes causing problems for people and the demonetization of videos, but it looks like YouTube wants to crack down on it even more to the point that it's not only hit a wave of YouTubers recently, but it hit us too! The little glance of hope we had just may be out completely. This YouTube demonetization thing just gives me a lot of thoughts. I now better understand the complaints I've seen from YouTubers in the past. This must be that YouTubers life.
Our upload tonight, explaining the word "Pangua" (which is a word to say someone's clothes or shoes are fake) just got hit with this message:
"Not suitable for all advertisers."
What makes things worse is that even though YouTube will review the video, they will only review it once the video has hit 1,000 views. If it doesn't pass this threshold, I guess you just have to forget about that video being eligible for monetization even if the video IS INDEED ELIGIBLE for monetization. We're still a small YouTube channel - I don't know when our video will hit 1,000 views.
I don't know...maybe we did do something offensive, and if we did, than it deserves to be demonetized. However, if we didn't do anything wrong, we're going to be penalized until we hit 1,000 views, unlike other videos that don't get flagged. Those videos, regardless if it's under 1,000 views, as long as it doesn't get flagged, they will be monetized.
I'm not here to say what's right or wrong, I'm just saying I'm having second thoughts on what to do now with YouTube, because based off the posts I've seen from other people and from my own video being flagged, it looks like YouTube is flagging anything! If we can't get the financial help we need to keep creating videos and posting 2-3 times a week, we'd have to just post once every few months and forget about the idea of YouTube being something bigger for us. If this happens, I apologize in advance to our subscribers and to people who regularly watch our videos. It is beyond difficult for us to work full-time and create videos on a consistent, regular basis, which is why I have no idea on what to do with YouTube - you don't know if or when they'll demonetize you.
